Updated Sept 16th, 2024- Camfil’s state-of-the-art mobile healthcare exhibit started its Canadian tour in Windsor on August 20, with its final stop at the National CHES Show on Sept 10 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The trailer made many stops in Ontario, Quebec, and Eastern Canada on its way to CHES. Its purpose is to visit medical facilities and engage with industry professionals, sharing the latest updates in healthcare air filtration, industry standards, and testing methodology. We wish to thank all attendees and Camfil staff for making the tour a great success!
The innovative healthcare trailer is equipped with interactive displays and demonstrations to showcase cutting-edge technology and solutions for improving indoor air quality in healthcare settings. The team of experts on board will provide valuable insights and answer any questions that healthcare professionals may have about air filtration systems, air quality concerns in healthcare facilities, and the most recent guidelines/standards.
The trailer was in Windsor and Chatham, Ontario on August 20
and in London, Ontario, August 21
Elliot Seale and Michael Menard from Camfil Canada inside the Healthcare Trailer in Montreal, Canada on Sept 4th, 2024
The final Canadian stop, Sept 8, 2024 at the Rogers Square at the Halifax Convention Centre
The purpose of the Healthcare Trailer tour is to impart valuable information to healthcare professionals about the importance of maintaining clean air in medical facilities. It aims to demonstrate how proper air filtration can enhance patient outcomes and overall safety. Healthcare professionals can network and collaborate on topics such as airborne virus transmission and reducing contaminants in sensitive or high traffic areas of medical facilities.
Air quality experts participating in the tour will show how healthcare facilities can reduce energy consumption and save on operational costs by using Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). These systems relieve healthcare facility maintenance workers of time-consuming tasks such as filter maintenance, allowing them to focus on more pressing tasks.
Experts will also discuss reducing waste through properly designed, longer-lasting air filtration solutions, enabling Canadian hospitals to contribute to a healthier and more sustainable future.
With innovative solutions, hospitals can ensure that their air is free of harmful contaminants and allergens, providing a more comfortable, healthier space -for patient healing and recovery- as well as for staff.
Canadian hospitals can take a proactive approach to reducing their carbon footprint with expert advice provided inside the trailer.
What’s inside the trailer
- CSA recommendations for healthcare, CSA Standard Z317.2:19 outlines the guidelines for air filtration in healthcare facilities.
- With advanced air filtration systems, hospitals can create a sterile and safe environment essential for patient and staff well-being. This ensures that healthcare facilities are equipped to handle potential health risks and emergencies and to reduce liability.
- Educational videos on how proper air filtration can lead to cost savings and an improved sustainability profile. By being informed on best practices, hospitals can not only improve air quality but also save money in the long run.
- By analyzing data collected through on-site air filter testing at hospitals and clinics, facilities can identify areas where they can reduce costs. This helps hospitals save money that can be reinvested into patient care.
- Interactive application touchscreens determine the best solutions according to the healthcare application. Displays allow healthcare professionals to get tailored recommendations for air filtration systems that meet their facility’s unique needs.
- Resources to help implement a strategic plan that includes regular maintenance, filter replacement, and monitoring of air quality. Facilities can ensure that their filtration systems are operating efficiently and effectively.
- The CamTester, an advanced field testing device designed to test the performance of air filters in real-life conditions, comparing the actual pressure drop and airflow of various products for verification of performance. It can be used to validate lab testing data and HVAC air filter vendor literature claims. It ensures air filtration systems are performing up to standards and minimizing production downtime due to unscheduled filter changeouts.
Camfil’s filters are tailored to serve the specific needs of healthcare facilities. There are molecular filters for the removal of VOCs, ozone, NO2, SO2, and organic acid gases, particulate filters, and HEPA and ULPA filters for the most sensitive areas. Experts will answer questions such as: Do MERV14-A filters work well in healthcare facilities (in general areas)?
Discussing experiences, best practices, and networking
The tour will feature discussions with healthcare professionals at each stop, discussing their experiences with implementing new air filtration systems and the benefits they have seen.
Accurately measuring and monitoring air filter pressure drop and efficiency to ensure optimal performance and safety will also be discussed.
The following topics will also be covered:
- Strategies for implementing effective ventilation systems to enhance airflow performance, improving safety within healthcare facilities, reducing the risk of airborne infections.
- Real-world examples of facilities that have successfully implemented better measures and the positive impact they have had on patient outcomes and staff satisfaction.
- Potential challenges faced by healthcare institutions when implementing new air filtration technologies, such as cost considerations, regulatory compliance issues, and staff training requirements.
- How poor indoor air quality can contribute to respiratory issues and other health concerns in patients and staff, leading to increased costs .
- Future trends such as incorporating smart technology solutions or integrating sustainability practices into facility operations and emerging technologies in air filtration.
